Kildale Falls Circular
Hidden away only a few miles from Great Ayton, discover Kildale Falls, a little known North Yorkshire beauty spot. This is a local 8-mile enchanting walk for everyone living in Great Ayton and surrounding villages and for visitors from around the world, taking in woodland, a hill climb, a waterfall and the centre of Great Ayton.
The Great Ayton to Captain Cook's Monument and onto Kildale Falls circular starts at the Royal Oak opposite the High Green in Great Ayton then goes through Cliff Ridge Wood, a steep walk up to Captain Cook's Monument, down towards Kildale, through Mill Bank Wood with the hidden charm of the Kildale Falls, and back through Little Ayton and Waterfall Park in Great Ayton.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a route descending down to the Fishing Lake, however, is now closed and not a premitted route. Make sure that before the steep descent you either continue on to Dykes Lane or turn left and take a path that crosses the railway line and still ends up at the wonderful Fletchers Farm Cafe.
When you arrive back in Great Ayton you can visit the Captain Cook Museum, grab an ice cream from Suggitts, relax on the High or Low Green, and paddle in the River Leven.
