Clay Bank to Tripsdale circular

Clay Bank to Tripsdale circular walkCircular walk from Clay Bank car park to Tripsdale and passing Badgers Rock.  The aim of this 10 mile walk is to see two attractions - Tripsdale, renowned as a gem, and Badgers Stone which it turns out was not named after a badger. It is a much better walk when the heather is in full bloom – bright red!

The name 'Badger' is a corruption of 'Bacheler' - origin unknown - and has no relevance to any resemblance it might bear to a badger.

Badgers Rock Tripsdale

Start at Clay Bank car park, just before the entry to Bilsdale. Then there is a steep walk on the Cleveland Way up to Urra Moor where a blackened path foes off to the right. From here there are superb views including looking over Hasty Bank, Cold Moor, and Cringle Moor. The path leads to Tripsdale after 4 miles, a steep descent and ascent and crossing Tripsdale Beck. Badgers Stone is reached after 6.5 miles.  Then continue on the loop to get back to the car park.
