Celebrating 250 years since Captain James Cook ventured on his first Pacific voyage.

It's been 250 years since Captain James Cook set sail on his first voyage of three to the Pacific. Cook, who's boyhood was spent living in Great Ayton, became a famous circumnavigator detailing maps from Newfoundland to New Zealand.

The world will be celebrating the life and achievements of Captain Cook throughout 2018 and 2019 which will include Great Ayton Village Fête 2018, organised by Great Ayton Parish Council in partnership with Visit Great Ayton.

This fantastic community event is a must for the whole family, there will be something to suit people of all ages, and is a wonderful community gathering of local organisations, businesses and individuals !

The Village Fête will commence on the Low Green at 1:30 pm with the judging of the fancy dress, decorated bikes and umbrella decorating competition. If you wish to take part just turn-up in plenty of time, dressed within the theme of Captain Cook or with a decorated umbrella in the same theme.
